Wherever in the world their data centre is or is being built,” said Emmanuel Beydon, R&M Key Account Manager for the Colocation Market. The reason for the initiative is that several trends are currently challenging the industry and its connectivity. A growing number of discerning customers with corresponding capacity possi- bilities have to be accommodated. Resources have to be built up for the exploding data traffic and latency minimised. Migrations to 100, 200 to 400 Gigabit Ethernet are just around the corner. At the same time, the aim is for data centres to operate in a more agile manner at a lower cost. “To ensure the operators can manage everything at the same time and concentrate on their business strategy, we take care of the engineering for connectivity,” continued Beydon. The program starts off with individual support on-site from the R&M branches and specialists. Due to the numerous sites and plants on all continents, R&M can cover all market regions. The staff is trained in the R&M standards. The R&M branches take on project responsibility. Direct contact shortens response times. The service package includes, among other things, consulting, evaluation and help in the planning of fibre optic network infrastructures. Furthermore, R&M takes care of logistics, cabling work, measuring and controlling. R&M branches assemble network distributors and racks to bring them into buildings as turnkey solutions. n Secure I.T. Environments completes government department data centre deployment Secure I.T. The award recognises projects that deliver operational and business outcomes by upgrading existing facilities rather than building new ones. Although complex, DigiPlex’s entry demonstrates that these projects can be faster to market, cost-effective and sustainable. Innovative thinking was key to successfully transforming a data hall in an existing data centre in order to meet the criteria of a large international client. Not only did this require a doubling of power and cooling density in the data hall and an increase in electrical resilience, but it was also completed in under nine months with no disruption to existing tenants and operations. “To be shortlisted for this important award is testament to our ingenuity, technical leadership and clear-sighted partnership with our customers,” commented Gisle M. Eckhoff, CEO of DigiPlex. “Perhaps, more importantly, we have delivered on the demands of a large international client, in a short time frame while still maintaining exceptional operational efficiency.” n blu-3 boosts its data centre business with new contract Specialist infrastructure provider, blu-3, has secured another works package on behalf of a social media giant at its project in Ireland. blu-3 has previously carried out a variety of utility services and enabling packages during earlier phases of development at the data centre. This latest contract win will see the company complete the installation of fibre connectivity across campus’ one and two. With the rise of the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital buildings, PoE is poised for an unprecedented expansion in the enterprise. Leviton 100-watt PoE products are specifically designed to enable the transmission of power and data to a wider range of remote devices which rely on PoE, including lighting, access controls, computers, IP cameras, information kiosks, industrial automation equipment and wireless access points (WAPs). Following the 2018 ratification of the IEEE 802.3bt standard, all Atlas-X1 and eXtreme jacks, as well as select patch panels, were tested and have now gained full third-party verification. This makes Leviton the first and only company in the cabling industry to date to achieve third party verification at this power level for its PoE products. The verified products feature Leviton’s patented PoE optimised tine geometry to prevent arcing damage at the mating zone between jack and plug, and Retention Force Technology (RFT) to prevent intermittent disconnects. They also support higher bandwidth and power while limiting the temperature rise in large cable bundles. The verification confirms the testing that Leviton performed and announced in 2016, in which Atlas-X1 Cat 6A jacks successfully delivered 100-watt PoE performance.www.networkseuropemagazine.com Fully CPR Compliant Draka Cat.6 U/UTP B2ca D65 Cable Following extensive research and development, Prysmian Group has launched its new Draka UC400 23 Category 6 U/UTP LSHF D65 B2ca data cable that’s fully compliant with the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). The new UK manufactured Draka cable has a genuine Euroclass B2ca s1a d1 a1 fire performance rating for full CPR compliance without compromising data transmission levels; it delivers full Cat- egory 6 / Class E compliant electrical performance. This has been a key challenge faced by manufacturers, including Prysmian, fre- quently resulting in compromise or failure of one of three aspects; data transmission performance, installation usability (high-density diameter & low weight) and fire safety rating. However, with CPR for cable products that are permanently installed in buildings in force, compromise is simply not an option. CPR requires third party testing of cables with a notified body for heat-energy content, plus spread of fire, smoke, acidity, heat emis- sion and droplet formation (burning drops of plastic that spread fire), to ensure they meet fire performance requirements laid out in the harmonised European standard for cables in construction works subject to reaction to fire requirements under the CPR (EN 50575) Prysmian has therefore invested in developing the new cable, with success achieved through a range of material engineering de- velopments, optimisation of the cable construction design (includ- ing a fine balancing of the volume of air spaces within the cable) and fine-tuning of the manufacturing processes. At the same time, the new cable remains compact, with a high degree of flexibility for easy installation, with Draka claiming there’s no difference in han- dling performance to its existing high-density Dca rated cables. n CyrusOne selects Airedale International to implement cooling solutions Airedale International has signed an agreement with CyrusOne.
